Tottenham are now attempting to hijack Arsenal’s deal to sign Hearts’ teenage striker James Wilson on transfer deadline day.

The 18-year-old had been travelling down to London to complete a move to Arsenal; however, Spurs are now also in talks with the Scottish club over a deal.

Fill in the blank: If Tottenham only sign James Wilson deadline day I will feel _________

The striker has already made 45 appearances for the senior team and also made his debut for the Scottish national team.

The two North London clubs are now battling it out to sign Wilson, who is expected to join either academy if a deal is agreed.

Tottenham are rivalling Arsenal to sign James Wilson

Tottenham Hotspur are now in talks with Hearts over a loan deal to sign James Wilson, according to Michael Bridge.

He is now wanted by both North London clubs and looks set to face a huge decision on transfer deadline day.

The deal is expected to be an initial loan, with an obligation or option to buy the teenager further down the line.

Bridge told Sky Sports News: “Yeah, we told you earlier a few hours ago on Sky Sports News that Arsenal are in talks with Hearts over a potential loan deal for the striker James Wilson. I can confirm that Spurs are also in talks with Hearts over a potential loan deal for James Wilson.

“We’ve got an obligation maybe for a permanent down the line, so that will be an interesting North London tug of war.

“But I must stress that if Spurs were to conclude this deal, it would be a deal that would see him move into Tottenham’s under-21 side and not the first team.”

Wilson is a highly rated talent at the Scottish Premiership leaders, but has made just one start this season under Derek McInnes.

Wilson, who has been described as ‘incredible’ by his former manager, Neil Critchley, could join the academy at Hotspur Way to get more minutes.

Tottenham expected to keep Mason Melia

Tottenham are not expected to send Mason Melia out on loan this transfer deadline, according to Alasdair Gold.

There is a hope that the teenager will soon be involved in first-team training, having arrived from St Patrick’s Athletic this month.

However, he has been unable to train due to a back issue, although he is soon set to be fit again.
