Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs that are monitoring the situation of Liam Delap, whose position at Chelsea remains uncertain.

The 23-year-old had a very tricky debut campaign at Stamford Bridge and is not particularly popular amongst supporters.

Who should be Roberto De Zerbi’s first Tottenham signing?

The striker managed to score just two goals in 41 appearances for the Blues, and with Xabi Alonso arriving in West London, his future is unclear.

Now, a host of Premier League clubs remain keen on the player, and Roberto De Zerbi’s team are believed to be among them.

Tottenham are interested in signing Liam Delap

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the Premier League clubs interested in signing Liam Delap this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.

Newcastle United and Everton are also keen on the striker and still believe he can become a top striker, despite a poor season at Chelsea.

But the former Man City academy graduate wants clarification over his future at Stamford Bridge from new manager Xabi Alonso’s decision over his next step.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking on Last Word On Spurs, Jacobs revealed: “I think that Liam Delap could be one to watch from Chelsea, another club that Tottenham wouldn’t normally do too much business with.

“Newcastle, Everton, Tottenham, the three clubs that like Delap and before we can clarify whether anything is going to develop there, Delap wants to stay and fight for his place. So he’s going to understand where he is in this pecking order with Jawa Pedro number one under Xabi Alonso.

“Who is going to be the number two striker? Is it still going to be Delap? Is it alternatively going to be Nicolas Jackson who’s coming back from a loan spell at Bayern? I think unlikely, but Jackson wants pre-season to see if he can change the new manager’s mind.

“Then you have (Emmanuel) Emegha, who’s coming from Strasburg too. Another player who will be wondering where he is in the pecking order.

“Once all that falls into place, if Delap is available on the market, Newcastle, Everton, and Tottenham are the three Premier League clubs I’m hearing.”

Richarlison is likely to leave Tottenham this summer

Meanwhile, in terms of current Spurs strikers, Richarlison is likely to leave, whilst Dominic Solanke remains well-liked by De Zerbi.

“Yeah, Richarlison is more likely to depart than Dominic Solanke,” added the journalist.

The Italian manager still believes that Solanke can return plenty of goals for Tottenham once he is fully fit, having spent most of last season playing catch-up after several injury issues.

Jacobs said: “As you say, Roberto De Zerbi appears to like Solanke, but also feels like they’re going to get a big return out of Dominic Solanke when he’s fit as well.

“So, he hasn’t really had the opportunity to have consistent games at Tottenham Hotspur and can still be a difference maker.

“But Richarlison could depart. There was interest from Saudi Arabia in Richarlison last summer. Al-Ahli in particular are ones to watch.”
