Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Denmark international midfielder Morten Hjulmand.
They have recently appointed Thomas Frank as the new manager of the club, and former Premier League midfielder. Thomas Gravesen believes that the Danish manager is likely to make a move for the Sporting CP star.
Thomas Gravesen said (h/t SportWitness): “He is a captain of calibre. Frank was with Norgaard for several years, and Hjulmand is an improved version and is even younger. That is why I think Frank’s first big purchase for Tottenham should be Hjulmand.”
Morten Hjulmand would be a solid addition
Hjulmand has been outstanding for the Portuguese club, and Tottenham need someone with his skill set. They need a player who will help control the tempo of the game and help out defensively. The Denmark international certainly fits the profile, and it remains to be seen whether Thomas Frank decides to make a move for him.
The 25-year-old is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. He has a €80 million release clause in his contract, and any club hoping to sign him will have to pay up.
Meanwhile, the Denmark International midfielder is an Arsenal fan and he has a tattoo of the Gunners’ club crest. It will be interesting to see how the Tottenham fans react to that if he ends up joining the club. He has been linked with a move to Arsenal as well.
The player could be tempted
The opportunity to join Tottenham and play under Frank could be quite exciting for the player. It would be a major step up in his career, and he would get to test himself in the Premier League. Tottenham have an exciting project, and they will be able to offer him Champions League football as well.
The asking price could be the only issue, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can negotiate a more reasonable deal.
