Tottenham Hotspur have identified a young Premier League centre-back as a potential option to replace Cristian Romero, but they will face intense competition for the player’s services this summer from some of the biggest clubs in the division.
Since Thomas Frank arrived through the door at Tottenham Hotspur last Thursday, predictably, several Brentford players have been linked with a move to N17.
The most intense speculation has been about Tottenham’s approach for Bryan Mbeumo, but some sources have also said that Spurs are considering a move for Yoane Wissa.
Additionally, it has been suggested that Thomas Frank wants to bring Christian Norgaard to Tottenham while various reports have also revealed that Spurs are among the contenders to sign Mikkel Damsgaard.
Tottenham enter race for Brentford’s Nathan Collins
TBR Football have now revealed that Tottenham have now joined the race for Brentford centre-back Nathan Collins, who Frank is said to be a big fan of.
The 23-year-old has come on leaps and bounds at the Gtech Community Stadium over the last 12 months, and it is alleged that the new Spurs head coach has identified the Bees defender as an option to replace Cristian Romero if the Argentine departs the club.
However, Tottenham are expected to face ‘stiff competition’ for Collins, who is also on the radar of both Liverpool and Arsenal.
MORE SPURS STORIES
The Gunners are particularly interested in the Republic of Ireland international, with Mikel Arteta said to have been thoroughly impressed by his displays in West London last season.
Additionally, Newcastle are also said to be sniffing around Collins as Eddie Howe looks to add further reinforcements to his backline.
Which other centre-backs do Tottenham have their eye on?
It was previously claimed that Spurs were keen on Marc Guehi, but it emerged last week that Guehi has rejected Tottenham’s advances.
Over the last few days, some outlets have said that Spurs are stepping up their interest in Jarrad Branthwaite, who is thought to be valued at £70m by Everton.
