Crazy stat reveals Tottenham ‘beast’ is key to Thomas Frank’s flying start
Tottenham fans are daring to dream once more after a strong start to the 2025-26 season.
Since Thomas Frank’s Tottenham arrival, he has completely transformed the style of play, as the Lilywhites look more capable of staying consistent throughout the season.
Frank has been hailed for his work at Tottenham so far, as he has helped bring the best out in Mohammed Kudus, with Xavi Simons continuing to settle in at N17.
Many players have stolen the headlines, but one man in particular has gone under the radar.

Last season, it was clear to see Spurs needed to upgrade the midfield in the summer, with Yves Bissouma underperforming.

Tottenham brought in Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich on a loan deal, and the former Fulham man hasn’t taken long to become a key cog in Frank‘s midfield.
According to WhoScored, Palhinha – described as a “beast” by Andreas Pereira – is averaging more successful tackles per 90 (4.44) than any other player in the Premier League this season to have played more than 500 minutes.
However, it’s not just his tackling data that catches the eye.
Palhinha registers 82 per cent passing accuracy per game and is vital at not only winning the ball back, but keeping possession for his team, too.
He has not made any errors contributing to an opposition goal and has also impressed with his 1.4 clearances per game.
As a defensive midfielder, Palhinha may not get the credit he deserves, but as the season goes on, he will prove even more just how important he is to this Tottenham side.
Thomas Frank will be delighted with Palhinha
Palhinha has already chipped in with three goals in his 11 appearances for Spurs, scoring a late equaliser against Wolves in a 1-1 draw in September.
The 30-year-old is proving to be more than just the typical defensive midfielder, as he is a massive reason why Frank has started so well at Spurs.
While Frank still figures out his best attack, he has one problem less in Palhinha, as the Portuguese man is one of the first names on a Tottenham team sheet now.
