Tottenham call 14-year-old up to train with first team as he impresses senior stars

A Tottenham academy youngster was called on to train with the first team ahead of the clash against Aston Villa, and he certainly made an impression.

There has been a lot of debate involving the goalkeeping role at Tottenham this season, with some Spurs fans even calling for Guglielmo Vicario to be dropped.

According to reports, not everyone at Tottenham is convinced that Antonin Kinsky is the answer, with the Czech shot-stopper not standing out in training.

However, one young goalkeeper did impress when he was called on to train with Thomas Frank’s side this week.

Training footage shared by Tottenham Hotspur on their social media accounts shows that 14-year-old academy goalkeeper Mikel Jack trained with the senior side following their return from the international break.

According to John Wenham, who runs the Lilywhite Rose social media platform, the teenager signed his scholarship as an Under-14 and currently plays for England’s Under-15s.

Jack is said to be very highly rated in the Tottenham academy, and it would have been an incredibly proud moment for the youngster to train with the superstars at the club at such a tender age.

In the full training video shared by the club, which you can see below, Jack is not just making some great stops at his near post, but he also comes out of his line brilliantly to claim the ball in one-v-one situations.

Kinsky is seen watching the teenager closely from behind the goal and encouraging the youngster.

The 22-year-old is heard shouting “great save” and applauding the youngster on a couple of occasions.
