Tottenham are in the final stages of their sporting director hunt, according to The Telegraph, with former Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl in the frame.
Spurs have been looking to bring in a new sporting director after it was confirmed back in January that Fabio Paratici would be leaving the club following the conclusion of the winter transfer window.
Paratici headed to Fiorentina, and Spurs have been on the hunt for a replacement ever since.
The likes of Johan Lange have been involved in recruitment and key decisions behind the scenes, but Spurs are looking to add another body to the backroom team.
Tottenham are in a precarious situation at the moment, sitting in 17th place in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone.
It's been a disastrous season for the north London club, so there's no doubt changes need to be made behind the scenes.
Tottenham Close to Sporting Director
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are in the final stages of their sporting director hunt, and former Borussia Dortmund man Kehl has emerged as a candidate.
It's claimed that sources in Germany believe that Kehl is in the frame to join Tottenham, and he's now out of work after recently mutually terminating his contract with Dortmund.
Dougie Freedman has also spoken to Spurs, while Paul Winstanley of Chelsea is another previous candidate.
Kehl was believed to be in London for a meeting last week, but it remains to be seen whether the 46-year-old was speaking to Tottenham at the time.
It's claimed that Lange could work alongside Kehl, although he has come under scrutiny at Spurs in recent months.
Kehl Responsible for Jobe Bellingham Signing
The report from The Telegraph lists some of the players Kehl was responsible for recruiting during his time at Dortmund, and it's an impressive list, including Jobe Bellingham, Nico Schlotterbeck, Karim Adeyemi, and Felix Nmecha.
The Bundesliga club announced his departure this month, claiming that it was the 'right time' for a change.
It's certainly interesting timing that it was just confirmed that he was going to be heading through the exit door, and he's now being heavily linked with making the move to Tottenham.
Whoever ends up getting the job at Spurs will have their work cut out after the difficulties they've endured over the last couple of years.
