Tottenham Hotspur continue to pursue a move for Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.

Initially, there were reports that they had triggered a £60 million release clause in the contract of the midfielder, and the deal is close to completion. However, the move has now stalled after Nottingham Forest decided to take legal action against Tottenham for making an illegal approach.

Tottenham confident of getting deal done

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that it is a tense situation as far as the transfer is concerned, but Tottenham are confident of getting the deal done, and they are expecting to proceed soon.

He said to GMS: “Yes, they are (confident). It’s a tense situation, but Spurs hope to be able to proceed soon.”

On the other hand, TBR football are now reporting that the midfielder has already informed Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis that he wants to join Tottenham this summer. That will come as a huge boost for the north London club, and it will give them a position of strength when it comes to negotiations.

Nottingham will not want to hold onto the player against his wishes, and it is fair to assume that an agreement could be reached soon. The fact that Tottenham are willing to pay his release clause should make the deal easier to complete.

Tottenham need Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham need more creativity and drive in the middle of the park, and the 25-year-old could be the ideal acquisition. He is capable of operating centrally as well as on the flanks. His versatility will be an added bonus.

The player was outstanding in the Premier League last season, scoring seven goals and picking up 10 assists. His numbers could improve when he is playing in a better team alongside quality players. The move to Tottenham could bring out the best in him.
