Tottenham have announced they will play a behind-closed-doors game in August

Tottenham Hotspur will play Getafe GF in a behind-closed-doors friendly in August, it has been announced.

The La Liga side, who finished seventh in Spain's top division last season under Jose Bordalas, will travel to London for the fixture, which will take place at Hotspur Way on Saturday, August 8. The game will kick-off at 3pm UK time and can be watched on SPURSPLAY.

In a statement published on Sunday, Tottenham said: "Our Men’s First Team will take on Getafe CF in a behind-closed-doors friendly match at Hotspur Way on Saturday 8 August. Kick-off against the La Liga side will be at 3pm (UK), with the match available to watch on SPURSPLAY, subject to availability in your region.

"The fixture is the latest addition to our pre-season schedule which already includes matches against MK Dons, Auckland FC, Sydney FC, Chelsea and back-to-back games with TSG Hoffenheim.

"Our only meeting to date with Los Azulones came in October, 2007, in a UEFA Cup tie at White Hart Lane, with the Spanish side edging the meeting 2-1."

The game against Getafe means Spurs have seven fixtures in the diary before the season begins competitively on August 22 with the trip to Brentford. Players not competing at the World Cup are set to return to the club's Enfield training complex in stages from Friday, July 10 for medical and physical testing and gym work. They will then move on to full work on the training pitches with the coaching staff from Monday, July 13.

Tottenham's first summer friendly currently in the diary will see them host League One side MK Dons at Hotspur Way on Wednesday, July 22. Spurs will then fly off across to the other side of the world to New Zealand to take on Auckland FC on Sunday, July 26 at Eden Park. The following day, Roberto De Zerbi's men will move over to Australia to start their preparations for a fixture against A-League side Sydney FC on Wednesday, July 29 at the Allianz Stadium.

Tottenham will then play Chelsea as part of the 2026 Sydney Super Cup on Saturday, August 1 at the 83,500-capacity Accor Stadium. After the Getafe fixture, Spurs will host Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim twice on the weekend before their new Premier League season kicks off.
