Tottenham are now searching for a potential replacement for James Maddison for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

The attacking midfielder had been in Thomas Frank’s plans, but this changed on Sunday.

Maddison was stretchered off against Newcastle in a pre-season friendly, with fears that he could be out for the majority of the season.

Therefore, Frank is searching for a replacement, with Morgan Rogers linked with a move to Tottenham.

Therefore, Tottenham Hotspur News has analysed the two England internationals to see how they compare.

Maddison outranks Rogers in multiple stats

It has been reported that Tottenham may have to pay £100 million to acquire Rogers this summer.

The Aston Villa ace is on the back of his best season yet, picking up 30 goal contributions in all competitions.

However, according to Fbref (5 August), he may not be an ideal Maddison replacement.

The Spurs star has better stats in multiple areas, including his creative and attacking output.

However, Rogers’ stats may be affected by his versatility, given that Unai Emery plays the 23-year-old on the wing as well as an attacking midfielder.

Nevertheless, it is no doubt a concern that the Aston Villa man may not be able to provide a better output than Maddison.

Frank should pursue other targets over Rogers

If Frank were to follow through with his interest in Rogers, he would no doubt cost Tottenham a ton.

On top of the touted £100m fee, Rogers could cost Spurs an additional £20m in wages.

This is not a risk Frank should consider taking, and there are plenty of better options available to Spurs.

Hopefully, if a Maddison replacement is brought in, it is someone who could realistically replicate his output without costing record sums.
