The latest Premier League transfer news as Tottenham, Liverpool, Man United and more plot January business

The 2026/27 Premier League season continues this weekend, and Gameweek 7 is already shaping up to be a real cracker. Everton get proceedings underway at home to Xabi Alonso’s free-scoring Chelsea this Saturday lunchtime while both Manchester City and Liverpool are in action against Ipswich Town and Brentford respectively.

Sunday’s highlights include an eagerly anticipated clash between Daniel Farke’s Leeds United and Michael Carrick’s struggling Manchester United, Arsenal’s trip to take on Nottingham Forest, and Brighton’s home clash against rivals Crystal Palace. It all draws to a close next Monday evening, when Tottenham host newly-promoted Coventry City.

We’ll begin today’s transfer rumours round-up at Old Trafford, where Man United will be licking their wounds after losing 2-0 away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Caught Offside claim that Red Devils and Arsenal are both casting admiring glances in the direction of Newcastle United’s Bazoumana Toure, who only just joined the Magpies over the past summer.

It’s said that both clubs were admirers of the £43m Ivory Coast international before he agreed his switch to replace Anthony Gordon at St. James’ Park. It’s noted that Newcastle are “relaxed” about any potential interest in their new signing, given that his current contract runs through until 2031.

The 3AM Verdict: This is a bit of a rogue rumour - Toure is only just through the door at Newcastle, so an exit in January would be extraordinary. Even a move next summer would be eyebrow raising. We don’t think his early performances so far have really done enough to convince either club to break the bank to secure the player’s services any time soon.

Liverpool ‘serious’ about signing Mexican wonderkid

Meanwhile, Liverpool are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, as the likes of Florian Wirtz and £123m summer signing Bradley Barcola struggle to impress in the Premier League this season. Team Talk assert that the Reds are highly interested in signing Club Tijuana sensation Gilberto Mora, who has just turned 18-years-old.

The story suggests that Liverpool are ready to rival Arsenal for the wonderkid’s signature, with the player valued at around £30m by his club. It’s at this juncture that we realised this article is one of the publication’s ‘Mr McBal’ specials - that’s right, anagram fans: Man City, Real Madrid, Man United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool are all apparently interested.

The 3AM Verdict: It’s been a while since the infamous Mr McBal made an appearance, but we’ll suspend our disbelief for now to consider whether a move to Liverpool would make sense. Mora is a left winger, and with Bradley Barcola, Rio Ngumoah, Cody Gapko and Victor Munoz all naturals in this position, we struggle to see how he’d break into the side. That said, at 18, there’s no reason why he couldn’t spend a season or two on loan somewhere else first.

Spurs could reignite interest in Rudiger

We’ll round things off at Tottenham, where Roberto De Zerbi’s side are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season after drawing at Man United last weekend. According to Football Insider, Spurs could make a move to sign Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger next summer, after being heavily linked with him in the last transfer window.

It’s said that the north London side are “keeping tabs” on the ex-Chelsea star, who has won the Champions League with both the Blues and his current club. However, it’s said that despite Spurs’ interest, the player is “most likely” to join a Saudi Pro League side for one final pay-day, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The 3AM Verdict: Rudiger was transformed into a top Premier League performer under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, and it would be great to see the charismatic defender back in the Premier League. He’d be an excellent short-term signing for Spurs, but with plenty of aging defenders on the books already, they should probably be looking for a younger option. Luka Vuskovic would have been ideal, if they hadn’t sold him to Brighton in the summer...
