The news that Evangelos Marinakis went nuts in reaction to Tottenham coming in for Morgan Gibbs-White was predictable enough.
Nottingham Forest have already lost one of their star players, Anthony Elanga, for £61.4 million to Newcastle United.
Now, another Forest first-teamer wants out. A cynical person might suggest that there are issues within that club, and after seeing Marinakis berate Nuno Espírito Santo on the pitch at The City Ground at the end of May, that some of the issues might be to do with Evangelos.
TheBoyHotspur understands that the situation is far from complicated and should be resolved in due course.
“From a legal perspective, I understand that Evangelos Marinakis’ ambitions to thwart this transfer are hysterics that won’t achieve very much, if anything at all. My understanding is that Morgan has handed in a transfer request and wants out.
I’ve been told that the Premier League have received a complaint, and ultimately they will give direction, but to repeat the well-worn phrase, slavery was abolished in the 1830s in the UK. GIbbs-White will be a Spurs player, it’s done.”
Tottenham, like most clubs, have been on the other end of this situation, in particular, with Dimitar Berbatov. At the time of that transfer, there was all manner of weeping and wailing, and eventually Fraser Campbell was tossed into the deal.
Football is littered with the righteous words of angry owners, and one gets the sense that Evangelos Marinakis is destined to join their ranks.
