Tottenham have cashed in big time from their Europa League campaign, and the figures behind it reveal just how much their run to the title in Bilbao was worth.
Tottenham Hotspur are champions of Europe following their 1-0 win against Manchester United in the final of the Europa League in Spain at the San Mames Stadium.
It was Brennan Johnson’s late first-half strike that gave Tottenham the lead, one that they defended valiantly with Micky van de Ven’s heroics helping to keep the scoreline in Tottenham’s favour, and saves from Guglielmo Vicario also helping to seal the deal.
Spurs would play in next season’s UEFA Champions League following their Europa League triumph, with their transfer funds also set to be bolstered.
Tottenham earnings from Europa League revealed after win against Manchester United
We revealed after Tottenham’s win in Spain that they had received £10.95 million for winning the Europa League, and given the £18.8 million the Lilywhites had earned before the final, Spurs took home a total of £29.75 million for their exploits in Europe.
However, data from UEFA has now laid out a more detailed breakdown of the club’s earnings from the group stage through to lifting the trophy.
Tottenham were guaranteed £3.6 million for participating in the competition, and in addition to this base fee, the club benefited from the governing body’s new value pillar system, which allocates payments based on coefficient rankings and market pool value, split between European and non-European shares.
