Tottenham are reportedly in talks to sign Lille star Jonathan David, who is set to be a free agent at the end of this season, Get French Football News has revealed.

The Canadian revealed last week that he will depart from the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the season after a five-year spell. In that time, he has established himself as one of the best centre-forwards in France.

Meanwhile, Spurs are desperate to avoid a repeat of the 2024/25 season which has seen them languishing in 17th place - just above relegation - with just one match of the season to go. They are on the lookout for new forwards, and could see David as a useful market opportunity.

Tottenham Pursuing Free Transfer for David

The attacker has a number of interested suitors

As per GFFN, Tottenham are in the race for David, alongside the likes of Aston Villa and Juventus, while Manchester United are also thought to have eyed a move for the 25-year-old.

Ben Jacobs revealed exclusively in the January transfer window that Spurs were chasing a deal for David, although a mid-season departure remained unlikely to come to fruition. The Lilywhites may well reignite their interest this summer in a free transfer.

Dubbed "one of the highest-rated strikers in the world", David has been an integral part of Lille's first-team since his arrival from Belgian side Gent in 2020. He registered a total of 25 goals and 12 assists in all competitions during the 2024/25 season, ranking as his club's top-scorer by a significant distance.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Jonathan David is Canada's all-time top-scorer with 32 goals in 61 national appearances.

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth last summer for a £65 million fee, but the Englishman could benefit from some competition at centre-forward. Richarlison could also be on his way out this summer amid links to the Saudi Pro League, and David could be a viable replacement.
