Tottenham Hotspur could look to reunite manager Roberto De Zerbi with Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen this summer, according to reports.

The north London side are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper as they look to replace Guglielmo Vicario, who appears set for a return to Italy.

Spurs have earmarked both Manchester City’s James Trafford and Verbruggen as potential targets amid doubts over Vicario’s long-term prospects at the club and emerging interest from Inter Milan.

The Serie A side are believed to have identified the Italian as their top target to replace Swiss international Yann Sommer and have already discussed a move with Vicario’s representatives, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham Keen on Bart Verbruggen

According to The Sun, Tottenham have included both Trafford and Verbruggen on their list of goalkeeping targets but could face competition for the former.

Aston Villa are also believed to be interested in Trafford and view him as a replacement for Emiliano Martinez should the Argentine leave this summer.

Verbruggen played under De Zerbi at Brighton for one season following his arrival from Anderlecht in the summer of 2023 and made 27 appearances across all competitions in his first year.

Following De Zerbi’s departure after the 2023-24 campaign, the Dutch international became Brighton’s primary shot-stopper ahead of Jason Steele and is nearing his 100th appearance for the Seagulls.

Previous reports have indicated that Spurs could face competition for Verbruggen's signature this summer, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also keen on the shot-stopper, who is said to be valued at £50m.

Brighton remain in a strong negotiating position for the Dutchman, whose contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Tottenham Scouts Watch Maxi Araujo

Tottenham had scouts in attendance for Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Sporting in the Champions League on Tuesday, with club representatives reportedly keeping a close eye on Uruguay international Maxi Araujo.

The Sporting left-back is believed to be a player of serious interest to the north London side, who have already initiated contact ahead of a possible summer move.

Araujo has been a key player for Sporting this season, making 37 appearances across all competitions and registering 10 goal involvements.

The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, making his 10th appearance of the Champions League campaign.
