Tottenham Hotspur could look to reunite manager Roberto De Zerbi with Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen this summer, according to reports.

The north London side are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper as they look to replace Guglielmo Vicario, who appears set for a return to Italy.

Spurs have earmarked both Manchester City’s James Trafford and Verbruggen as potential targets amid doubts over Vicario’s long-term prospects at the club and emerging interest from Inter Milan.

The Serie A side are believed to have identified the Italian as their top target to replace Swiss international Yann Sommer and have already discussed a move with Vicario’s representatives, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham Keen on Bart Verbruggen

According to The Sun, Tottenham have included both Trafford and Verbruggen on their list of goalkeeping targets but could face competition for the former.

Aston Villa are also believed to be interested in Trafford and view him as a replacement for Emiliano Martinez should the Argentine leave this summer.

Verbruggen played under De Zerbi at Brighton for one season following his arrival from Anderlecht in the summer of 2023 and made 27 appearances across all competitions in his first year.

Following De Zerbi’s departure after the 2023-24 campaign, the Dutch international became Brighton’s primary shot-stopper ahead of Jason Steele and is nearing his 100th appearance for the Seagulls.

Previous reports have indicated that Spurs could face competition for Verbruggen's signature this summer, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also keen on the shot-stopper, who is said to be valued at £50m.

Brighton remain in a strong negotiating position for the Dutchman, whose contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Tottenham Scouts Watch Maxi Araujo

Tottenham had scouts in attendance for Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Sporting in the Champions League on Tuesday, with club representatives reportedly keeping a close eye on Uruguay international Maxi Araujo.

The Sporting left-back is believed to be a player of serious interest to the north London side, who have already initiated contact ahead of a possible summer move.

Araujo has been a key player for Sporting this season, making 37 appearances across all competitions and registering 10 goal involvements.

The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, making his 10th appearance of the Champions League campaign.

Tottenham are believed to be eyeing a move to sign Man City goalkeeper James Trafford in the summer transfer window, but another club are believed to be leading the race, according to reports.

Spurs are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper later this year for multiple reasons, with one of those being that Guglielmo Vicario has a strong chance of leaving the club to join Italian outfit Inter Milan.

Another reason could be that Roberto De Zerbi was recently appointed as manager, and the former Brighton boss requires his goalkeeper to be heavily involved in the build-up, something Vicario has often struggled with.

Vicario has been a key player for Spurs this season, even if he has endured difficulties, and he's been the number one for both Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor.

Tottenham Eyeing Man City Star

According to reports, Tottenham are ready to enter the race to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford in the summer transfer window.

The report also claims that Vicario is expected to leave the club later this year, meaning Spurs are in the market for a potential replacement.

Trafford, described as 'world-class' by Burnley manager Scott Parker, has endured a difficult time at Man City this season, with Pep Guardiola's side signing Gianluigi Donnarumma shortly after he arrived at the Etihad Stadium.

Newcastle are believed to be the frontrunners to secure the signature of Trafford during the summer window, and it remains to be seen how keen he would be on a move to north London at this stage of his career.

Trafford a Vicario Upgrade

Trafford would be an upgrade on Vicario, and he would also be more suited to playing the style that Roberto De Zerbi will want to implement.

The English star shouldn't be judged on his lack of appearances at Manchester City this season, as he's been incredibly unfortunate that Donnarumma was brought to the club.

Trafford would undoubtedly come straight to Spurs and become their number one goalkeeper, and he'd likely be an improvement on what we've seen from Vicario this season.

It might not be easy to get a deal over the line, but if Spurs can offer him regular minutes, the race could become interesting.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Want to Sign 'Superstar' as Mbeumo Alternative

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as an alternative to Bryan Mbeumo, Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT exclusively.

New manager Thomas Frank is keen to strengthen the squad after taking over from Ange Postecoglou this summer, with the Lilywhites preparing for a season in the Champions League following their Europa League triumph last month.

The club showed an interest in his former Brentford star Mbeumo, but the Cameroon star has given his full priority to joining Manchester United instead, which has left the north London side looking at alternatives.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Want Eze

Frank has held talks with Spurs chiefs

Eze, who scored the winner in the 2024/25 FA Cup final and has been labelled a "superstar", is someone who has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he is entering the final two years of his Crystal Palace contract.

The England international has a £60m release clause at Selhurst Park and Spurs are one of several clubs showing an interest in the playmaker.

But speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Romano revealed that Eze is just one of the names on the list of options at Tottenham to strengthen the forward areas after talks between club chiefs and new manager Frank.

"They are preparing the list together with Thomas Frank. So at the moment, there could be plenty of names before they decide who is the player they want. For sure. One player they appreciate already, since last summer, is Eberechi Eze, who did fantastically this season at Crystal Palace. And so he remains one of the targets in the list at Spurs.

"But at the moment still not an active negotiation, because they are still assessing all the options and then deciding who is the player they want to sign."

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that Frank has already given the green-light to a move for Eze, but so far a deal hasn't progressed past gathering all the information necessary for a deal.

Richarlison is expected to move on during the summer window, while there is interest from Saudi Arabia in captain Heung-Min Son. Spurs have completed the permanent signing of Kevin Danso following his loan in the second half of last season, and the club have also agreed a deal for highly-rated Japanese defender Kota Takai.
