Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen to kickstart Thomas Frank's potential appointment as manager by swooping for Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and has already agreed on personal terms over a five-year deal with the Red Devils. Brentford are holding out for £60m and have rejected an initial offer of £55m for the Cameroonian, who has a year left on his contract.

Spurs could hijack United's deal for the 25-year-old should they replace Ange Postecoglou with Frank. The Danish coach is the frontrunner to take over the Lilywhites and bring an end to a seven-year stay with the Bees.

Tottenham Want Mbeumo And Frank

The Dane's appointment could spell trouble for Man Utd

Alan Nixon of The Sun reports that Spurs want Mbeumo despite the player closing in on a move to United. He snubbed interest from Newcastle United and Arsenal, both competing in the Champions League, in favour of joining Ruben Amorim's side.

Daniel Levy could make a late play for the versatile forward once Frank's appointment is sealed. It's said that he is "open" to replacing Postecoglou, and the Lilywhites will have no issue paying a £10m compensation package and extras for his backroom team.

Mbeumo would be on the agenda if his proposed move to Old Trafford isn't completed and Spurs have the cash to match the £60m price tag. They can also offer the Bees attacker Champions League football next season after beating the Red Devils in the Europa League final.

Frank's arrival would likely be the most significant part of a proposal, though, given his importance in Mbeumo's development. He dubbed the right-winger "unplayable" after shining in a 4-2 win over Newcastle in December.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Bryan Mbeumo is Thomas Frank's second-most-used player of his managerial career (242 appearances, 70 goals, 51 assists)

Mbeumo joined Brentford around ten months after Frank became first-team manager and his acquisition proved to be one of the club's best decisions. He finished last season joint-fourth in the Premier League's Golden Boot race with 20 goals.
