Tottenham could reignite their interest in Aston Villa star midfielder Morgan Rogers in 2026, journalist Dean Jones has revealed.
The North London side were looking at a potential move for the England international in the summer transfer window, and could reportedly re-emerge as more serious contenders next year.
Rogers is a player Tottenham admire greatly, as they gave serious thought to signing him in the closing stages of the market before turning their focus towards Randal Kolo Muani, who joined on loan from PSG on deadline day.
Spurs are believed to have made contact for Rogers through intermediaries late in the window, but ultimately withdrew from talks, as Villa were reluctant to sell the 23-year-old midfielder at the time.
The Lilywhites splashed over £180m on new arrivals this summer, with Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha also joining, while permanent deals were struck for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso.
Spurs Target Villa’s Morgan Rogers
According to Jones, Villa are expected to increase their valuation of Rogers to around £100m from the new year onwards, as they want to reflect his growing importance under Unai Emery.
Although such a fee was seen as unrealistic under Daniel Levy’s reign, Tottenham are now suggested to be willing to push their finances to secure a marquee signing, potentially of Rogers’ calibre and overall potential.
The North London side saw Levy depart his role of executive chairman after almost 25 years at the club on Thursday, with director of ENIC, Peter Charrington, named as Tottenham’s new non-executive chairman.
Levy was the Premier League's longest-serving chairman, having been appointed in March 2001.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Rogers has won six caps for England to date.
Jones claims Tottenham are not the only ones looking at Rogers as a potential addition in 2026, as Premier League rivals Chelsea are also interested and monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation very closely.
Rogers has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s best attacking midfielders since joining Villa in January 2024 from Middlesbrough, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year last month.
The ‘incredible’ England international has scored 17 goals and provided 17 assists in 73 appearances for Villa to date, including 19 goal contributions in the Premier League last term.
