Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.
The 31-year-old Denmark International has done quite well for Brentford, and a report from GMS claims that his name has come up during transfer conversations at Tottenham.
Tottenham wanted to sign him in the past as well.
Tottenham eyeing a defensive midfielder
They are looking to bring in a quality defensive midfielder, especially with the way Yves Bissouma has performed last season. The Mali International was quite inconsistent, and there have been rumours that he could be sold. It will be interesting to see if they try and replace Bissouma with Norgaard this summer.
The 31-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League with Brentford, and there is no doubt that he would be a quality addition for Tottenham. He knows the way Thomas Frank likes to play, and he could settle in quickly at the north London club. Tottenham are expected to appoint Thomas Frank as their new manager.
Frank has previously heaped praise on the Brentford manager, claiming: “Every team has one or two players that is the glue, makes the team tick, or better just by stepping on pitch. Norgaard is one of the players that does that for us.”
It remains to be seen whether the Danish manager can help get a deal done for Norgaard this summer.
Brentford do not want to sell Christian Norgaard
Meanwhile, the report from GMS claims that Brentford are prepared to block his exit, and they do not want to let the player leave. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. The 31-year-old is more than just a defensive midfielder, and he will help out creatively as well. He has six goals to his name and four assists this past season.
His numbers could improve when he is playing in a better team alongside top-quality players. He could be a complete midfielder for Tottenham. Even though he is 31, he could be an asset for the club in the short term.
The opportunity to join a club with Champions League football will be quite exciting for the Danish international as well. Meanwhile, clubs like Everton, Fulham, and Bournemouth are keeping tabs on his situation as well.
