Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs looking at Royale Saint-Union Gilloise winger Anan Khalaili, according to hln.be.
He caught the eye of clubs like Spurs, operating on the right flank, bagging three goals and five assists (14 big chances created) in 38 Belgian Pro League appearances.
Spurs could use another winger in the ranks with Dejan Kulusevski remaining sidelined.
Mohammed Kudus impressed in his first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but injuries curtailed his campaign, and the same goes for Wilson Odobert.
Tottenham need to bring serious wingers for Roberto De Zerbi, and it appears Khalaili is on the club’s shortlist.
The 21-year-old forward’s work rate is remarkable, allowing him to operate as a wing-back. He is a right-footer, offering a different threat to Kulusevski and Kudus.
Union hope to receive more than €25 million (a club record outgoing fee) from whoever wants the Israeli international (16 caps).
Spurs have been impressed by Khalaili’s performances over the past year, but they are not the only ones who have taken notice, with Napoli also reportedly eyeing him.
However, while Khalaili looks like an exciting talent and €25 million could prove to be a bargain in today’s inflated market, this is a move Spurs can afford to pass on.
He possesses the intensity, versatility and attacking output that would fit seamlessly into De Zerbi’s system.
Still, Spurs are already pursuing Manchester City’s Savinho, a player capable of operating effectively on both flanks.
Adding Khalaili would only create further congestion in an area of the squad that is already well-stocked.
If Tottenham want to invest significant money in another winger, Savinho appears to be the more logical target because of his ability to cover multiple roles and higher ceiling.
Khalaili is a fine player, but Spurs can afford not to pursue this particular target.
