Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini, who could cost over £50m if he were to depart in the summer transfer window, according to The I Paper.

Spurs are entering a new era after they sacked Ange Postecoglou at the end of the 2024/2025 season. The Australian manager won the Europa League with Tottenham, beating Manchester United in the final, but that wasn't enough for him to keep his job, and he was relieved of his duties shortly after the campaign ended.

Daniel Levy and his team opted to appoint Thomas Frank from Brentford, and they are now in the middle of the summer transfer window as they prepare to rebuild their squad for the new season. Spurs will be competing in the Champions League in the 2025/2026 campaign, so it's imperative that they bring in new additions to improve on their dismal display, finishing 17th in the Premier League last term.

Tottenham Interested in Signing Giorgio Scalvini

He could cost over £50m this summer

According to a report from The I Paper, Tottenham are one of the sides showing an interest in signing Atalanta centre-back Scalvini for the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old defender is set to cost over £50m, with the Italian club hoping to enter talks over extending his current contract.

Scalvini missed a large portion of the 2024/2025 campaign due to multiple injuries, which could be a concern for any club looking to secure his signature this summer. The centre-back initially missed the start of the campaign after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament problem, before enduring a shoulder problem which made him unavailable in the second half of the season.

Scalvini, described as a 'world-class' defender by talent scout Jacek Kulig, is a young defender with plenty of potential, but he's already shown that he's capable of playing at the highest level. If Scalvini can get over his injury woes, it could be a smart addition for Spurs this summer.
