Tottenham Hotspur fans think Micky van de Ven has just tarnished his legacy after being shown a red card and conceding a penalty against Crystal Palace.

Spurs had taken the lead through Dominic Solanke; however, Van de Ven’s catastrophic error gave the visitors a clear passage back into the match.

Has Micky van de Ven just tarnished his Tottenham reputation?

Red card vs Crystal Palace…

The Eagles fully capitalised on their man advantage as Ismaila Sarr scored two goals and Jorgen Strand Larsen made it 3-1.

But following his red card, Spurs fans are now seething at the team’s acting captain for the evening for making such a costly error.

Tottenham fans think Micky van de Ven’s reputation is in tatters

Tottenham Hotspur fans now think Micky van de Ven’s reputation is in tatters following his red card against Crystal Palace.

In one of the North London club’s biggest matches in many years, Van de Ven did the unthinkable by getting sent off.

Spurs’ squad has already been decimated by injuries and Cristian Romero’s suspension, and now they have lost their other centre-back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Van de Ven could leave Tottenham in the summer, which has led fans to become even angrier about the predicament he has now left them in.

One fan said: “Thanks for the goal line clearance in Bilbao, Van de Ven, but it’s time to go.”

“Cheers for the moment in Bilbao, but you’ve just relegated us, Micky,” claimed another.

A third fan stated: “Van de Ven should never get that armband again, honestly. Such a foolish thing to do.”

If Tottenham are to sack Igor Tudor, who would YOU want to replace him?

They have been woeful under Tudor…

“Does Van De Ven need a lift to Liverpool in the morning? Happily drive him there myself,” stated an angry Spurs fan.

There was yet more criticism for the defender: “Can’t wait until Van de Ven is gone. Never wanna think about him ever again.”

Finally, another claimed: “Van de Ven can leave the first day of the window, regardless of what league we are in. The captain can’t even play well or look bothered for a single game.”

Tottenham will now be without the defender for a very tough game at Anfield against Liverpool, although Romero is back from a four-game ban.
