Tottenham fans are calling for an emotional return of one of their most loved players, as Dele Alli’s latest career setback has left him without a club once again.

Dele Alli’s attempt at a return to club football, following struggles off the pitch, has not quite gone according to plan for the Tottenham Hotspur icon.

Reports indicate that Alli has now terminated his contract with Italian side Como, despite only signing for the Serie A outfit a little over six months ago.

A falling out with Como boss Cesc Fabregas after featuring just once for the Italian side all but sealed the midfielder’s fate, leaving him without a club as the 2026 World Cup edges closer.

Tottenham fans urge emotional Dele Alli return

Spurs supporters who have followed Dele Alli’s latest setback have been quick to put forward a solution for the midfielder, with many urging the club to bring their cult hero back to north London.

On X, one fan wrote: “Bring him home. Give him a shoulder. Let him hear the fans singing his name as loud as ever. Pay as you play, cup games. Absolutely nothing to lose with that. #THFC.”

Others echoed the sentiment, with one adding: “He is club trained by the way so could fill a free slot in the UCL list, just saying!” while another supporter suggested: “I would love it to happen but it seems too sentimental, maybe somewhere like Rangers with Mikey Moore.”

Another Tottenham fan commented: “The fella is 29, genuinely he could get a couple great seasons if he really puts the effort in. I might genuinely cry if he steps out onto the pitch as a Lilywhite again.”

One more supporter offered: “Got no issue with this if being at the club inspires him to get back to some sort of level. He turns up, trains and gets on with it. I cannot stand the Carabao Cup so if he proves himself and gets a game, fair play. Pay as you play option is the only way. Ffs, we paid Werner to do FA.”

A final fan added: “At the very least, bring him back to train, he went through so much when he was with us I feel we have a duty of care to make sure he is ok. If that ended up being a pay-as-you-play scenario then wonderful.”

Dele Alli at risk of missing 2026 World Cup after Como setback

There is no doubt that Dele Alli holds a special place in the hearts of many Tottenham supporters, who remain desperate to see their cult hero succeed once more.

It has simply not worked out for the 29-year-old, who enjoyed several standout seasons in the Lilywhite shirt of Tottenham, with subsequent spells at Everton, Besiktas and now Como all ending on a negative note.
