Tottenham fans haven’t got much to cheer about right now, but the arrival of Souza could give them a much-needed lift.

A 10-man Spurs were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United on Saturday, as boos for Thomas Frank sounded from a rageful away end at Old Trafford.

Cristian Romero’s reckless red card challenge on Casemiro put the Lilywhites at a major disadvantage early on against the Red Devils, with Frank’s future now under increasing pressure.

However, in the midst of a worrying time for Tottenham, they seem to have found a silver lining in Souza.

Tottenham fans impressed by Souza, not ENIC

Tottenham signed Souza for a fee in the region of £13million when prying him to North London from Santos in the winter transfer market.

Destiny Udogie picked up an injury versus Man United in the second half, which prompted the introduction of the Brazilian for his first outing in a Spurs shirt.

As much as there is negativity around Frank’s name at the moment, many have also been left unimpressed by ENIC’s running of the club.

But it’s fair to say that supporters were left happy by Souza’s debut, with Tottenham fans sharing a consensus on X.

One Spurs fan said: “He did well. A lot of potential.”

Another Tottenham supporter said: “Poor lad thrown into the deep end because of the incompetence of the clowns running, or should I say ruining our once great club. Just get out.”

Souza now set for full debut vs Newcastle

Tottenham’s next game comes fast, with the Lilywhites set to host Newcastle United at home on Tuesday.

Eddie Howe is in troubled waters for the Magpies, and the encounter proves to be a game that both managers desperately need to win to ease tensions at their respective clubs.

Due to Udogie’s injury, Souza is poised for a start against Newcastle. The left-back showed great signs of his pace at Old Trafford, and could give Frank an extra boost of energy on the left side of play.

Given Udogie’s history, it could also mean that Newcastle could be the first of several starts for Tottenham, with the former seemingly picking up a muscle issue.

The scenes at Man United regarding Souza, at least, were promising, and there could be a lot more to come from the 19-year-old.
