Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been delighted with Mathys Tel’s performance in the first half against Atletico Madrid.

The Frenchman looked by far Spurs’ most lively attacker in the first 45 minutes and created Randal Kolo Muani’s opener against Atletico Madrid.

The 20-year-old has not had it easy since making the permanent switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but this was one of his best performances to date.

Igor Tudor will be encouraged by his team’s display in the first half and will be particularly pleased with how Tel played against the Spanish outfit.

Tottenham Hotspur fans believe that Mathys Tel was the team’s best performer in the first half against Atletico Madrid.

The North London club have made a great start to the tie in N5 as they lead through a Kolo Muani header, which was assisted by Tel.

The young Frenchman was heavily involved in the first half, with 37 touches, eight dribbles attempted and 15 carries.

Spurs fans have now taken to social media to hail the youngster following his best performance so far in Lilywhite colours.

One fan said: “Mathys Tel is having a good game. Taking on his man at every opportunity, a few half-decent efforts, full of enthusiasm. Been a rare bright spark in recent weeks.”

“Unbelievable delivery by Mathys Tel. Been Tottenham’s best player tonight and one of their best in recent weeks. Really starting to grow,” added another.

A third fan stated: “Superb assist from Mathys Tel. He’s been fantastic so far and is revving up the crowd.”

There was yet more praise for the winger: “Mathys Tel is looking great tonight – so much energy! He and Xavi Simons are linking up nicely.”

Finally, another added: “Mathys Tel is so good… Get him with a proper attacking coach, and he’ll cook!”

Tel had a great chance to score Spurs’ second; however, his effort was saved by Juan Musso, and perhaps he could have squared it.

But the signs have been very encouraging from the French youth international and he could be a key player in the second 45 minutes.
