When asked by TalkingPoints to describe the signing of the England international, Spurs fans weren’t best pleased with the deal.
One fan said: “Bad. We need a progressive midfielder, and Gallagher operates best in the 10 role. How are we actually planning to get the ball to him? He will have the same issues as Xavi and become isolated.”
“Expensive. Surely Spurs can’t justify buying Palhinha in the summer if they bring in Gallagher now,” added another.

A third fan stated: “Good player, and Spurs are crying out for midfielders, but not sure he’s a game-changer who moves the team onto the next level by any means. Hopefully I’m wrong…”
“Strange. Good player, but not what Spurs need at all,” claimed another.
“Underwhelming signing. But I think that’s where Spurs are at the moment. The club needs to steer away from signing unproven, exciting youngsters.”
“He is a luxury but good signing. We still really need a playmaker.”
“Safe. Good energy in the box-to-box role, fans have loved him everywhere he’s been, but I doubt he’s going to be transformative.”
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid fans are delighted to be getting £36 million for Gallagher, which should be a slight worry for the Lilywhites.

The Brazilian left back is undergoing a medical at Hotspur Way on Tuesday, according to Tom Barclay.
The Santos defender will join Frank’s squad and will provide cover for Destiny Udogie, who has had his fair share of injuries.
