Journalist Dean Jones has now revealed what his sources are telling him about the future of Heung-min Son, and whether the Tottenham forward is more likely to leave or stay this summer.

There have been some mixed reports about the future of the Tottenham captain over the last few days after Saudi Pro League clubs stepped up their pursuit of the superstar.

Earlier this week, Football Asian claimed that Son is more likely to stay at Tottenham, with the forward preferring to move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS next summer following the 2026 World Cup.

However, since then, several sources have talked up the chances of the South Korean departing the club, with TBR Football even claiming that Thomas Frank has given the green light for Son to be sold if the 32-year-old does not accept a bit-part role next season.

Is Heung-min Son more likely to stay or leave Tottenham?

Even the reliable Alasdair Gold has said that Son is now closer to a Tottenham exit than he ever has been over the last 10 years.

Dean Jones has now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have not yet made a final decision on the future of their captain, but remarked that an exit from N17 seems the most likely outcome for the forward.

The journalist said on Ranks FC Ultras Podcast: “Further up the pitch, Tottenham will have to decide what they do with Heung-Min Son. He could definitely leave, it’s not completely decided yet, but I would say it’s likely now that Son does leave. The only realistic place at the moment is Saudi and I don’t think that is ideal.”

Thomas Frank’s words are very telling regarding Son’s future

Amidst the ongoing speculation over the Tottenham captain’s future, Thomas Frank made an interesting statement in his first interview as Spurs head coach, which hinted that the former Bayer Leverkusen player is not part of his plans.

Frank did not mention Son among the list of players he is looking forward to working with, instead naming Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison as the senior players he is keen to link up with.
