David Moyes has reacted to the two controversial refereeing decisions in Tottenham’s 3-0 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and has opined on whether those ultimately affected the result.

Tottenham Hotspur built on their impressive away record on Sunday, with their win at Everton meaning that they have got 13 points from a possible 15 on the road.

That is in sharp contrast to their home form, with Spurs’ home record this season being nearly relegation-worthy.

There were a couple of officiating calls that went the away side’s way, and the Everton boss has been asked about them in his post-match press conference.

David Moyes says the big refereeing calls were right against Tottenham

Jake O’Brien had the ball in the back of the net, but VAR intervened to highlight that Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye were offside and interfering with play.

There was also some consternation from the home fans about Micky van de Ven’s second goal, with the Tottenham centre-back giving a slight nudge to Jordan Pickford as the corner-kick was played into the box.

When asked about O’Brien’s disallowed goal, Moyes said (via Liverpool Echo): “I think the goal we got chopped off for offside was the correct decision. I think it’s offside.

“At the time and from where I looked at it from the touchline, it looked to me as if everyone was OK, but I’ve just looked at it after I came in after the game, so I can’t argue with that now.”

When asked if Pickford was fouled in the lead-up to Tottenham’s second goal, Moyes responded: “No, I don’t think there was a foul on that. I don’t think so.”

Moyes claims set-pieces were the difference between Spurs and Everton

The Toffees boss pointed out that his side had more corner-kicks than their opponents on Sunday.

He praised Tottenham’s delivery into the box and admitted that it was not a surprise to see a Thomas Frank-managed side being so good at set-pieces.

When asked where the responsibility lies for the 3-0 loss, Moyes said: “Well, the players will always take responsibility, and I do, of course, we do.

“We’ve been very good at set pieces in the main, but today Spurs, whatever team Thomas [Frank] has had, have been good at set pieces, their deliveries were good.

“We had more corner kicks than them today, but they got their head on them and we didn’t, and the goalkeeper punched a few and we didn’t.”
