Former Tottenham Hotspur scout Mick Brown has claimed that we could see the Lilywhites go back in for Morgan Rogers during the January transfer window.

Spurs were linked with a whole host of attacking midfielders before they eventually secured Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in the final days of the transfer window.

One of those was the Aston Villa man, with several sources claiming that Tottenham wanted to test Villa’s resolve to hold onto Rogers.

It was suggested by some sources that Spurs were ready to break the bank for Rogers, but in the end, the attacking midfielder stayed put at Villa Park.

Tottenham remain interested in Morgan Rogers

Mick Brown has revealed that, according to his sources, despite signing Simons, Spurs have not dropped their interest in the England international.

He suggested that Thomas Frank’s men are not completely satisfied with the business they have done this summer and that they could flex their financial muscle again in the winter.

When asked about the speculation over Rogers’ future, Brown told Football Insider: “He did an excellent job for Villa last year.

“They don’t look like quite the same side this year; they’ve had a poor start to the season, and there are going to be a few questions asked. It will raise doubts about the future of some of their players, and Rogers is one of them.

“There are a lot of clubs interested in him, and I’m told Tottenham are one of them. They want to add to the players they brought in during the summer, and I don’t think they’re completely satisfied with the business they’ve done.”

Spurs warned over a January pursuit for Rogers

It has been claimed over recent days that Tottenham want to signal their ambition in the post-Levy era, and could do that by spending big on the Villa star in January.

However, Brown warned the Lilywhites that they will likely face intense competition for the 23-year-old in January.

He added: “If Villa continue the poor start, there’s no reason he wouldn’t be looking at potential options if these interested clubs come forward. It’s not something I would expect to happen in January because of the money it would take and how important he is for Villa, but maybe next summer.

“I know Tottenham are big admirers of his, so they might be one to keep an eye on, but if he becomes available, there will be a lot of clubs on alert.”
