Tottenham Hotspur fans will be pleased with the latest news coming out about Cristian Romero ahead of Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.
Spurs fans would have been keeping an eye on how some of their stars have been getting on during the international break, and some have had better fortune than others.
Xavi Simons came in for criticism after being played out of position in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw at home against Poland.
Romero, who has been Mr. Consistent for Argentina over the years, put in another impressive performance against Venezuela to help his side take all three points, but there was another interesting development in that game.
Cristian Romero should return to Tottenham unscathed
Romero helped the World Champions keep a clean sheet as they emerged 3-0 winners, with a brace from Lionel Messi and another from Lautaro Martinez helping them seal a comfortable win.
However, Romero picked up a yellow card in the 64th minute against Venezuela, which means that he has accumulated enough bookings for a suspension.
As a result, the new Tottenham captain will play no part in Argentina’s clash against Ecuador, and will return to London with just 90 minutes of football in his legs during the international break.

Spurs need to find a way to keep their centre-backs fit
Thomas Frank has said that he has plans to prevent another injury crisis at Tottenham, and one would imagine that it would include considerable rotation to prevent fatigue.
Frank and his coaching staff need to keep Romero and Micky van de Ven fit, with Spurs showing last season that they are nowhere near the same side when the duo do not play.
The Tottenham head coach will thus be quietly pleased that Romero picked up a suspension.
