James Maddison did not miss an opportunity to reference Ange Postecoglou’s early-season promise about delivering a trophy this season, and the Tottenham midfielder also put a Chelsea fan content creator in his place.

Two days on from the famous evening in Bilbao, many Spurs fans are still pinching themselves and wondering if it was all just a dream.

The long wait that Tottenham fans have had to see their side lift the silverware and the heartbreaks they have had to endure along the way have made the Europa League success even sweeter.

Many, including Liverpool star Mohamad Salah, have given a shout-out to Postecoglou’s second-season trophy promise, which will go down in history as one of the greatest quotes ever to be uttered by a football manager.

Maddison has defended Postecoglou from criticism all season, and the attacking midfielder was not shy of reminding everyone of what the Australian had promised at the start of the campaign.

After the final whistle in Bilbao, the attacking midfielder and Sergio Reguilon unfurled a banner, which had Postecoglou’s quote about “always winning trophies in his second season“.

Maddison hilariously puts Chelsea fan in his place

After the final whistle, the Tottenham midfielder was asked to speak to CBS Sports and Maddison began the interview by trolling Roy Keane after the Man United legend had criticised him for not being a big-match player a couple of months ago.

While Keane saw the funny side of the interaction, a Chelsea fan creator, Rory Jennings, launched an attack on the Tottenham man for bantering a legend in Keane.
