Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Vanderson from AS Monaco, and they have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Brazilian.
Barcelona and Liverpool are keen on the 23-year-old defender as well, but the Spanish champions have decided to abandon their pursuit of the player. They are not looking to improve the fullback areas anymore, as per Sport via SportWitness.
Boost for Tottenham
In addition to that, Liverpool have already signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, and it seems unlikely that they will sign another right-back. That makes Tottenham the frontrunners to seal the move for the South American.
It will be interesting to see if they can get the deal across the line. Vanderson has done quite well for the French outfit, and he has the attributes to do well in English football as well. He’s capable of operating as a right back as well as a wing back. It will be interesting to see how Tottenham accommodate him in the starting lineup, especially with Pedro Porro at the club.
Vanderson will need assurances
Vanderson will not want to sit on the bench at Tottenham, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. They might need to get rid of Porro in order to accommodate the Brazilian international.
The 23-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. Tottenham could be an attractive destination for him, but they need to provide him with gametime assurances.
