Tottenham have received a major boost in their pursuit of Manchester City winger.

Roberto De Zerbi succeeded in his mission of keeping Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on the final day of the season. Now, the onus is on the club’s hierarchy to provide De Zerbi with adequate tools to compete well in the Premier League next season.

Spurs have agreements in place to bring free agents Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi to the club from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively, transfers that will fortify their defensive unit significantly. Reinforcements are also required in midfield and attack after the struggles from the past campaign.

The wide department has to be addressed without fail. Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus all struggled to perform consistently. Odobert is unlikely to return in 2026 after suffering an ACL injury, while Kudus sustained a quad injury in mid-January and never returned to action. Plus, Tel did not have the impact in his first full season in North London that he wished to.

Tottenham learn asking price of Manchester City winger Savinho

Recent reports suggest Tottenham have rekindled their interest in Manchester City winger Savinho. Spurs have been chasing the Brazilian international since last summer, but Manchester City chose to keep him at Pep Guardiola’s request back then. Pep Guardiola wanted to keep hold of him to maintain his squad depth, but with the Spanish tactician having departed now, the Lilywhites will fancy their chances of striking a deal.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Man City have set a £60m valuation on Savinho, £10m less than what Tottenham were willing to pay last summer. However, there is every chance Spurs could try to negotiate that figure down, given the Sky Blues’ desire to sell.

Savinho endured an underwhelming season at the Etihad Stadium, managing only four goals and three assists across all competitions. That is not to say he won’t fit into De Zerbi’s system at Spurs. The Brazilian trickster has the qualities to flourish under De Zerbi and provide strong competition on either flank. He likes to operate on the right wing, so the 22-year-old will look to push Kudus for a place in the XI if a move happens.

The South American attacker was open to joining Tottenham last year, and his stance might remain the same. In a more attacking and possession-based system, Savinho will back himself to thrive and unlock his true potential with regular minutes under his belt.

That said, the N17 chiefs must do everything within their powers to bring the £60m asking price down. After an underwhelming season, Spurs must not yield to City’s hefty demands and use Savinho’s desire to leave the club to their advantage. If they can crack a deal at around £50m, it would represent smart business.
