Tottenham may have been handed an important boost during the international break, with fresh claims emerging around Dominic Solanke’s fitness that could ease some concerns after talk of potential surgery.

Just before Tottenham Hotspur faced Bournemouth in matchweek three of the Premier League, Thomas Frank confirmed that forward Dominic Solanke was set for a spell on the sidelines.

Following the game, the Tottenham manager made it clear that he did not expect Solanke to be missing for too long, with the initial timeline suggesting a return straight after the international break.

However, reports later suggested that Solanke’s recovery could be more complicated than first thought, with fears that the striker may need to undergo surgery on his ankle.

A new update from Tom Allnut has now revealed that Solanke has had an injection in his ankle during the international break to help settle the issue, instead of undergoing surgery as first reported.

It is understood that Tottenham do not expect their striker to be sidelined for an extended period, although Solanke’s involvement so far this season has been limited.

The forward has been battling injury problems since pre-season and has yet to register more than 20 minutes in a competitive game for Spurs.

Tottenham transfer decision looks shrewd with Kolo Muani

Before the British summer window closed, Tottenham moved quickly to strengthen their forward options, following Solanke’s injury scare.

Randal Kolo Muani was signed on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, with Thomas Frank keen to ensure he had enough depth in attack before the deadline.
