Tottenham Hotspur have been told that they can sign Marc Guehi for considerably less than what they were willing to offer for the Crystal Palace centre-back during the January window.
If reports over recent weeks are to be believed, Cristian Romero has made up his mind to swap Tottenham for Atletico Madrid this summer.
The club are thought to be on the lookout for a replacement for the vice-captain, with some sources claiming Spurs have identified Marc Guehi as their top choice to replace Romero.
It was widely reported that Tottenham made a £70m offer for Marc Guehi late in the January window, which was turned down by Crystal Palace. Spurs have been backed to reignite their interest in Guehi this summer.
Tottenham see Crystal Palace’s valuation of Marc Guehi drop
The England international has just one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park, and journalist Ben Jacobs believes that Palace are willing to reduce their asking price for their centre-back this summer.
Jacobs says that the Chelsea academy graduate is more likely to depart this summer than run his contract down, asserting that Oliver Glasner’s men could accept an offer of around £50m to £55m for the defender.
The journalist said on the London is Blue- Chelsea FC Podcast: “So if they (Chelsea) move in another direction, we know Marc Guehi is a player that they appreciate, and Palace have got a big decision to make because his contract is now starting to tick down. They rejected a 70 million bid from Spurs in January.

“They turned down 65 million from Newcastle last summer. And now I think the feeling is 50-55 at the top end might be enough to get Palace to sell simply because of his contractual situation. And my understanding is that Guehi is more likely to leave Crystal Palace rather than run down his contract or end up signing a new deal.”
Could Spurs convince Guehi to move to N17?
It is not just Chelsea who threaten to derail Tottenham’s hopes of landing the Palace star, with reports indicating that Spurs also face competition from Liverpool and Aston Villa for Marc Guehi.
With many of those clubs potentially set to offer the Englishman Champions League football, Postecoglou’s men seemingly face an uphill battle to land the 24-year-old.
