Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign Marcos Senesi on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has reportedly agreed a deal and principle with the North London club. However, he will only join them if they can secure safety in the Premier League. He does not want to compete in the lower divisions.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the deal is ‘now up to Tottenham’, and they must avoid relegation in order to secure his signature.
Marcos Senesi would be a superb addition
The 28-year-old has been a reliable defender in the Premier League, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Tottenham on a free transfer. He will help them improve defensively. Signing him for free would allow Tottenham to improve the other areas of the squad as well.
This has been a disappointing season for Tottenham, and they are fighting for survival. They have brought in a new manager, and Roberto De Zerbi will be expected to guide them to safety.
If they manage to beat the drop, it seems that the 28-year-old Bournemouth defender could be the first signing for the Italian manager at Tottenham.
Senesi to replace Romero or Van de Ven?
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have been linked with moves away from Tottenham at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether they can hold onto the two players. If the two players decide to move on, Spurs will need to invest in multiple central defenders.
Senesi has the quality to thrive at a top club, and he could prove to be a useful acquisition. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his career, and he will want to compete at a high level and fight for trophies. Even though Tottenham have struggled this season, they should be able to bounce back with the right additions in the summer and compete at a respectable level.
