A new report has shed light on what Tottenham are planning to do regarding Will Lankshear, who has enjoyed a breakout season on loan at Oxford United.
Lankshear scored 14 goals and registered four assists across all competitions for Oxford after a difficult start to his spell at the Championship club.
While those goals were not enough to save the club from relegation to League One, the Spurs youngster picked up Oxford’s Young Player of the Year and won the club’s Golden Boot.
The young Tottenham striker is attracting interest from Premier League clubs on the back of his outstanding performances in the Championship, and Spurs’ plans for the 21-year-old have now come to light.
Will Lankshear will get a chance to impress Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham this summer
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now confirmed that the Tottenham academy graduate is indeed attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer window.
However, he made it clear that Spurs plan to give him an opportunity to force himself into De Zerbi’s plans for next season.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “There’s a number of clubs that are keeping tabs on Lankshear because of how well he did at Oxford on loan. Lankshear’s very highly regarded at Tottenham, they feel that he’s got a real chance of making a breakthrough there as well.

“Obviously, no decision will be taken on his long-term future until Tottenham have clarity on which division they’re going to be in for next season as well.
“He will go back to Tottenham for pre-season and he’ll be hoping to impress Roberto de Zerbi in pre-season when he will have a chance to show what he can do. But until Tottenham know where they’re going to be, there’ll be no decisions made on any players.”
Lankshear expects a conversation with Spurs on his future
The 21-year-old Tottenham man became a fan favourite among the Oxford supporters this season, not only because of his goals but for giving his all every time he put the shirt on.
Last week, Lankshear admitted he expects to have a conversation with Spurs about his future soon, stating that he is keen to give his all to impress the coaches at Hotspur Way on his return.
