Tottenham may have just taken a big step towards completing the signing of Eberechi Eze.

The Crystal Palace star has become one of the Premier League’s finest playmakers in recent years, and that has attracted the attention of the Lilywhites, who are searching for a replacement for the injured James Maddison.

Eze would be a huge signing for Tottenham, and he could potentially fill the void that was left by Son Heung-min as the main face of the squad in N17.

Spurs will have big expectations as they move into the Thomas Frank era, and after the latest update from Crystal Palace, they could have a deal for Eze within their grasp.

Crystal Palace ‘close in on’ Bilal El Khannouss as Eberechi Eze replacement

Tottenham have reached an agreement for Eze in principle, but the final stage of their pursuit will depend on Palace’s ability to recruit a suitable replacement in the final weeks of the window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Eagles have been exploring the possibility of a move for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, and they now appear to have taken a big step forward in their bid to sign the Moroccan.

The South London outfit are understood to be ‘closing in’ on a deal to sign the attacker for £32m, according to Sky sports’ Rob Dorsett via X.

Oliver Glasner’s side are thought to have reached a broad agreement on terms, but their sustained interest in Tyler Dibling is acting as a slight barrier to them fully committing to the deal.

This latest update will be music to the ears of Spus, who are waiting in the wings to seal the arrival of Eze.

If their Premier League rivals can swiftly complete their move for El Khannouss, then it should leave ittle standing in the way of Daniel Levy and Co. for them to get a deal done for the England international.

Where is Eberechi Eze?

Tottenham will have had a keen eye on Eze during Palace’s clash with Chelsea at the weekend, as the attacking midfielder admirably turned out for his side despite the ongoing speculation.

He was unlucky to see a stinging free-kick ruled out in controversial circumstances, and his impressive showing was testament to his character as a professional.

In an environment where players are increasingly trying to force through transfers with petulant behaviour, Eze continues to go about his business in an impeccable manner, and reported for Palace training as normal on Wednesday, as per the Guardian’s Ed Aarons via X.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be able to get the deal done in time, but they will be hugely encouraged to see Palace move one step closer towards securing a potential replacement.

The Lilywhites are essentially powerless until that deal is complete, so they will be watching events in SE25 intently over the next few days.
