A new report has revealed when Tottenham’s trip to Stamford Bridge is set to be scheduled after the fixture had to be moved due to the Blues’ progression to the FA Cup final.
Spurs were originally scheduled to play Chelsea in their penultimate game of the season on May 17, with the result likely to be crucial in the Lilywhites’ quest to stay up.
However, Tottenham’s trip to West London for the London derby is set to be rescheduled as the FA Cup final will be played on 16 May.
The Blues overcame Leeds in the semifinal over the weekend and will take on Manchester City in the showpiece final at Wembley.
Tottenham could play Chelsea three days after their FA Cup final
The Mirror have now revealed that the Premier League will announce the dates and kick-off times for the fixtures involving Chelsea and Man City today.
They claim that the London derby at Stamford Bridge is expected to be scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, with kick-off set to be at 8:15 pm.
If that proves correct, it would mean Tottenham will have a full week to prepare for the big clash against their rivals, while Chelsea will have just three days between the FA Cup final and the derby.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Tottenham would have ideally wanted the game to be scheduled in the week before Chelsea’s FA Cup final rather than the week after.
That would have meant that the Blues had half an eye on the final and potentially rested players for the clash against Spurs.
If May 19 is announced as the date for the derby, the Lilywhites would be hoping that Chelsea win the FA Cup, and their players are partying in the lead-up to the clash against Tottenham.
