Tottenham have Thomas Frank at the top of their wishlist, but should talks collapse, they already have two strong alternatives waiting in the wings.

With Ange Postecoglou’s sacking confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur, fans are eagerly waiting for news about the manager who succeeds the Australian.

It has been well reported by several sources that Thomas Frank remains Tottenham’s main man to take charge this season, with direct talks having been held between Frank and Spurs.

It has also been reported that the deadline for Tottenham to announce Frank’s signing has been set, with a decision expected in the coming week.

Tottenham prepare Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner contingency plans

While it almost feels certain that the Brentford manager would be the successor of Postecoglou, the Daily Mail is now reporting that Spurs have two backup plans for the Dane.

According to the publication, it is understood that should Tottenham fail to reach an agreement over Thomas Frank’s estimated £9 million compensation, the Lilywhites have Fulham’s Marco Silva and Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner as their alternative options.

Marco Silva is said to be admired by the Tottenham hierarchy, and it was reported yesterday by the Portuguese media that Marco Silva is very close to taking the Spurs job after being contacted by the north London club.

Oliver Glasner has certainly impressed during his time at Selhurst Park, with the Palace boss leading the Eagles to their first ever piece of silverware after they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

While Glasner is admired by Tottenham, it has been reported that the Crystal Palace boss is expected to remain in South London for at least one more season.

Thomas Frank wants Spurs move as decision looms

It has also been revealed that Thomas Frank has made his feelings clear about taking the Tottenham job.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Thomas Frank has told Brentford that he wants to leave the Bees this summer for Spurs, and that the Brentford manager’s camp is already in talks over terms, as the deal nears its completion.

Reports also claim that Brentford have stated that they would not stand in the way of Thomas Frank if he wants to move to a bigger club.

Indeed, a decision needs to be made quickly as Tottenham are being left behind by rivals who continue to strengthen their squads.
