Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa this summer, and they have held internal discussions regarding a potential move.
According to a report from The Guardian, Tottenham are hoping to 28-year-old DR Congo international, and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal across the line.
They made contact to sign the player a few months ago as well.
Brentford star in red-hot form
The player has been outstanding for Brentford, and he scored 20 goals in all competitions last season. He managed to pick up five assists as well. He proved to be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham as they look to beef up their attacking unit.
They signed Dominic Solanke last season, and he scored 9 goals in the league. They need more goals on the side, and the 28-year-old could share the goalscoring burden with Solanke. Wissa is well settled in the Premier League, and he could make an instant impact at Tottenham. Wissa has been labelled as ‘exceptional’ by Thomas Frank.
Yoane Wissa could be tempted
The opportunity to join a club with Champions League football will be quite exciting for the attacker. He would get to reunite with Frank at the North London club as well. Convincing him to join the club should not be too difficult. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince Brentford to sell the player.
They are expected to lose Bryan Mbeumo this summer as well. It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to sell two of their best attackers in one window.
Tottenham will hope that Frank can play a key role in getting the deal across the line. They need to plug the weaknesses in their squad this summer if they want to bounce back strongly next year. They have the bones of a very good team, and a couple of intelligent additions could take them to a whole new level.
