Tottenham Hotspur have recently held talks with former Barcelona manager Xavi over a potential appointment, presenter Richard Keys has revealed.
Spurs could be looking to change their manager at the end of the season after a disappointing campaign under Ange Postecoglou. Despite their impressive run in the Europa League, where they will play Manchester United in the final, Tottenham are currently 17th in England's top flight.
It's an opportunity for Tottenham to salvage something from a disastrous season, but the pressure still appears to be ramping up on Postecoglou. Spurs have now lost 20 Premier League games this term, an unacceptable figure for a club of their calibre.
Tottenham Hold Talks With Xavi
He's not keen on returning just yet
According to Keys, Tottenham have spoken to former Barcelona manager Xavi over a potential appointment, but he's said to be not ready to return to coaching...
"I heard from a really good source last week Spurs have spoken with Xavi. That makes a lot of sense. Sadly for Spurs I’m also told he’s not ready to return to coaching yet. Or perhaps he’s even smarter than we thought?"
Xavi has previously been described as "the best manager in the world" before he left Barcelona, and he's currently out of work. In his first full season with the Catalan giants, Xavi lifted the La Liga title, managing a total of 142 games in charge.
It's rare that Barcelona aren't competing to win the league, so joining a club like Tottenham would be a huge difference. The north London club are in a difficult spot at the moment, and Postecoglou could struggle to keep his job.
GIVEMESPORT sources have recently confirmed that the Australian manager could be sacked regardless of whether he wins the Europa League or not. It will be an impressive achievement, but Daniel Levy won't be able to ignore their league form this season.
