Tottenham Hotspur remain active in the transfer market as they look to bolster their forward line, and a new target has now emerged on their shortlist.
The north London side have already brought in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke for a combined fee of around £230m, while Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka have all arrived on a free transfer.
Roberto De Zerbi has described the window as being 60% done, with the attack in need of reinforcements. Man City star Savinho is the leading target, while Liverpool's Cody Gakpo is also someone the club have held talks for, but they are now also eyeing potential alternatives in case those deals can't be done.
Tottenham Hold Talks for Yilmaz
According to a report by Turkiye Gazetesi, Tottenham have held talks with Galatasaray over a deal to sign winger Baris Alper Yilmaz.
Yilmaz, who has been described as 'very special' and compared to Gareth Bale, scored 12 goals and registered 16 assists in all competitions in 2025/26 as Galatasaray won the Super Lig title in Turkey.
His performances have interested a number of clubs across Europe, including Spurs, and it's understood that the club have made verbal enquiries about a move to bring the Turkey international to the Premier League.
Galatasaray have set a minimum price of €50m (£42.8m) to let the winger leave Istanbul this summer, and it's expected that Spurs will take concrete steps to try and sign Yilmaz in the coming 10 days and formalise a deal.
The 26-year-old is understood to dream of playing in England and the Premier League, and would be open to joining Spurs should an offer materialise. However, he is putting Galatasaray first and leaving the decision to club management, and is not expected to agitate for a move.
Tottenham Push for Attacking Reinforcements
Tottenham started the transfer window strongly and aggressively, getting lots of deals done quickly. But since then things have slowed down, and the squad is still a little short with the season just a few weeks away.
Forwards are an absolute necessity for De Zerbi, and bringing in players such as Yilmaz would be a huge coup as they look to return to competing for European football and not fighting against relegation.
The club are clearly looking at alternative targets in case their top targets can't be brought in, with the club growing frustrated, and Yilmaz is someone who is one to keep an eye on.
