Tottenham Hotspur have held talks over a potential deal for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, and they are readying a 'sensational' late move, according to a report from Football Insider.
Spurs are in the market for attacking additions in the summer transfer window, despite their impressive start to the Premier League season. It's been an interesting window for Tottenham so far, failing with a move to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, who signed a new deal at Nottingham Forest, before more recently seeing their efforts to bring Eberechi Eze to the club hijacked by their north London rivals Arsenal.
James Maddison's recent injury, which is likely to rule him out for the majority of the 2025/2026 campaign, has undoubtedly forced Tottenham into intensifying their efforts to bring in a new attacking star for Thomas Frank. After Arsenal hijacked the Eze deal, Tottenham have been working to try and secure an alternative before the window closes on Monday.
Tottenham Hold Talks to Sign Morgan Rogers
According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham have held preliminary discussions over a possible move to sign Aston Villa's Rogers before the end of the summer transfer window. It's understood that Spurs are now preparing a late 'sensational' move to try and secure his signature, but Villa are demanding in the region of £100m to even consider sanctioning a departure.
Described as 'ridiculous' by former Aston Villa defender Micah Richards, Rogers has had a rapid rise in the Premier League since his move to the Midlands. Although Rogers looked impressive during his time at Middlesbrough, not many would have expected him to have the impact he's made in England's top flight already.
There appears to be little reason for Villa to offload Rogers in the summer transfer window, unless they feel an offer is too good to turn down for profit and suitability regulation reasons. If Tottenham are able to pull it off, it will undoubtedly be a huge statement addition and an adequate alternative to Eze, but they might need to burst the bank to get it over the line.
Spurs currently sit in second position in the Premier League on goal difference, having won their opening two games under Frank. The north London club are yet to concede a goal, scoring five in the process.
