In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs hoping to land Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah this summer. It has been revealed that Spurs would have to rival Newcastle United and Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the race to sign the English centre-back this off-season.
Quansah’s Important Role At Liverpool Last Season
Quansah served as a useful squad player at the Merseyside club in the previous campaign. He managed to put in a few impressive displays at the heart of Liverpool’s backline. The English talent participated in 25 matches for the Reds last season in multiple competitions.
The 22-year-old deserves some credit for making 12 tackles, 10 blocks and seven interceptions for the Merseyside club in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing possession from inside his half based on his pass success rate of 90.8% in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for Spurs to secure his serves on the cheap this off-season.
Is Quansah A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?
Quansah is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. The English sensation can even play his way out from the back. Standing at 1.90m, he can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels.
Quansah has got some valuable experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Tottenham. We can expect him to add more quality to Spurs boss Thomas Frank’s backline in the long run.
