In a recent report, journalist Pete O'Rourke mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the situation of Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez. However, it is believed that Spurs are not genuine contenders to sign the Argentine talent, who has his heart set on a move to Barcelona next year.
Alvarez's Decent Form In La Liga
Alvarez enjoyed a good run of form at the Madrid club in the previous campaign when he put in a handful of productive performances as the spearhead of their attack. The Argentina international scored 20 times and picked up nine assists in 49 matches for Atletico Madrid last season in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old is currently one of the most talented strikers in La Liga. Hence, it is no surprise that Spurs are showing interest in recruiting him next year.
His current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Tottenham to land him on a cut-price deal this January or at the end of this campaign.

Will Alvarez Be A Dream Signing For Tottenham Hotspur?
Alvarez excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Argentine talent can even contribute by scoring and creating a lot of crucial goals for his team. Alvarez is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a winger on either flank if needed. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League from his time at Man City and won't take much time to adjust to life in England if Spurs can find a way to snap him up next year.
However, Tottenham could struggle to convince the player to join them as they do not have the luxury of UEFA Champions League football. Still, there is no doubt that Alvarez would be a dream signing for the North London club to pursue in 2027.
