Tottenham Hotspur chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has been at the training ground since the early hours of today, according to Sky Sports.

Atletico Madrid defeated Tottenham 5-2 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie last night.

Spurs manager Igor Tudor has lost the four games he has overseen since replacing Thomas Frank, and there are growing calls to sack him.

He spent the night at the on-site hotel of the Tottenham training ground, where he has been staying since moving to England.

It is unclear if he will oversee their Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday or the return leg against Atletico next Wednesday. The Spurs boss and Venkatesham are in talks over recent performances.

The fans want Tudor gone as nothing has improved since his arrival, and the club could be in the relegation zone if they lose to Liverpool this weekend.

Spurs are two places and a point above the relegation zone ahead of their final nine league fixtures, and failure to quickly turn a corner could result in them playing Championship football next season.

They take on Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton in their remaining league games after this weekend.

Defeats to Arsenal, Fulham and Crystal Palace before last night already set the alarm bells ringing, and Tudor could be on his way out in the coming hours or if Spurs suffer another loss against Liverpool.

Tottenham have to do all they can to stay up, and fans will be hoping a smart decision is made before it is too late.
