Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window after completing the £85million signing of Savio from Manchester City.
Savio has been registered in time to make his Tottenham debut against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday night.
His arrival takes Spurs’ spending beyond £300million this summer, following the additions of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke for a combined £237million. Former Liverpool vice-captain Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have also arrived on free transfers.
Savio’s departure is a club-record sale for Manchester City, surpassing Julian Alvarez’s £82million move to Atletico Madrid in 2024. Tottenham are also pursuing Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo and have already seen a £60million bid rejected.
According to BBC Sport, Spurs are exploring a move for former Liverpool defender Neco Williams, although Nottingham Forest are determined to keep the Wales international.
Tottenham’s interest in the 25-year-old remains at an exploratory stage, with Forest unwilling to consider his sale this summer. Williams was a key player last season and remains part of new manager Oliver Glasner’s plans.
Forest are also in talks with Williams over a new contract, with his current deal running until 2029. Meanwhile, Tottenham have sold Djed Spence to Inter Milan and are considering signing a replacement.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly prefers a versatile full-back with Premier League experience, making Williams an attractive option.
Williams can play on both flanks and has made more than 150 Premier League appearances. Tottenham Hotspur have several options at left-back, including Destiny Udogie, Andy Robertson and Ben Davies, while Pedro Porro remains the first-choice right-back.
With limited cover on the right, Tottenham are keen to sign a younger, versatile full-back before the transfer window closes on September 1.
