Tottenham Hotspur appear increasingly likely to part ways with Richarlison this summer, with Trabzonspor pushing to sign the Brazilian after agreeing personal terms with the forward.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Richarlison has agreed a salary worth three times what he currently earns at Tottenham, while the Turkish club are expected to return with a fresh proposal after Spurs rejected offers of £15 million and £20 million.
For Tottenham, the potential departure would bring an end to a four-year spell that has failed to produce the return expected when the club spent around £60 million to sign the forward from Everton in 2022.
A £60m Signing Who Never Quite Took Off
Richarlison’s Tottenham Hotspur Spell in Numbers
Richarlison arrived at Tottenham Hotspur as one of the Premier League’s more acclaimed forwards, having scored 53 goals in 152 appearances for Everton.
The Brazilian was expected to add another dimension to Antonio Conte’s attack and eventually become a major goalscoring option for Spurs. Instead, his Tottenham career has been heavily disrupted by injuries and inconsistent form.
Richarlison has made 134 appearances for Spurs across all competitions, scoring 32 goals. While those numbers are respectable, they fall some way short of what would have been expected from a player who cost around £60 million.
His joint-best return came last season, when he scored 12 goals to finish as Tottenham Hotspur’s leading scorer. That campaign offered some encouragement that Richarlison could still become an important player in north London, but his long-term future was already becoming increasingly uncertain.
Injuries and Competition Changed the Picture
One of the biggest problems during Richarlison’s time at Tottenham has been his availability.
The forward has struggled to put together a sustained run of matches without injury, making it difficult for him to establish himself as a consistent first-choice option.
There has also been significant competition for attacking places throughout his spell, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min previously occupying the striker spot during Richarlison’s first couple of years at the club.
That process has now accelerated under Roberto De Zerbi, as Savio and Omar Marmoush have arrived, while Mykhailo Mudryk has joined on loan from Chelsea. Dominic Solanke also remains an important part of the squad, leaving Richarlison facing an increasingly difficult route into the starting lineup.

Tottenham Hotspur Face a Significant Financial Loss
The biggest issue surrounding Richarlison’s departure is the financial return Tottenham are likely to receive.
Spurs paid around £60 million to sign the forward from Everton, while the two offers rejected from Trabzonspor were worth £15 million and £20 million.
Even if the Turkish club significantly improve their proposal, Tottenham are unlikely to recover anything close to their original investment.
That represents a substantial loss on a player who was once expected to become one of the club’s leading attackers. However, the financial picture is not quite as straightforward as simply comparing the transfer fees.
Tottenham would save on Richarlison’s wages if he leaves permanently, while there is also little value in retaining an expensive player who wants to leave and may struggle for minutes in a significantly changed attacking setup.

Tottenham Hotspur: The Last Word
The situation therefore represents something of a balancing act for Tottenham. Accepting a relatively low fee would mean accepting a significant loss on their original investment, but keeping Richarlison purely to avoid that loss could also prove counterproductive.
The Brazilian has already indicated that he wants a move away, with De Zerbi confirming Richarlison’s desire to leave in a press conference last week.
If Trabzonspor can meet Tottenham’s valuation, moving Richarlison on would allow Spurs to draw a line under a disappointing investment and concentrate their resources on the players now expected to form the next generation of the attack.
For Richarlison, meanwhile, a move to Turkey could provide an opportunity to continue his career away from the pressure that accompanied his £60 million move to Tottenham.
