Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AC Milan attacker Rafael Leao, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
However, a deal to bring the Portuguese dribbling sensation to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club is a difficult one to do.
Spurs signed Xavi Simons last Friday. While he can play as a winger, manager Thomas Frank could do with a player like Leao.
The 26-year-old, who has been likened to Ronaldo, is one of the best wingers in the world. Adding him to the Tottenham attack would be a superb move.
He ended last term with 12 goals and 13 assists in 50 appearances and was involved in 29 goals in 2023-24.
Leao is primarily a left winger, but he can also play through the middle, and his versatility and quality in the final third would come in handy if Spurs sign him.
He has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League, but getting a deal done for him before the transfer deadline could prove tricky.
His ability to slice defences open with through balls and pinpoint passes is a skill Tottenham need after losing James Maddison to a long-term injury.
He is also a great finisher, and he has what it takes to improve the Tottenham attack.
Leao is unlikely to be the only one on Spurs’ radar as they strive to bolster their attacking ranks, and it will be intriguing to see what happens between now and the deadline tomorrow.
Their defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday underlined their need to bring in a winger capable of playing through the lines and unlocking defences with individual moments of brilliance.
